Envelope Gift Scheme, Standing Orders & Contactless Donations

The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor. Charities or community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) take your donation - which is money you've already paid tax on - and reclaim the basic rate tax from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on its 'gross' equivalent - the amount before basic rate tax was deducted.

Donating through Gift Aid means charities and CASCs can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra. For example, if you donate £100 to charity - we can claim Gift Aid to make your donation £125.

To join the envelope gift scheme, speak to John Hutchinson, he will provide you with a Gift Aid Declaration form to sign and provide you with a box of envelopes. Each box of envelopes has a unique donor number and contains an envelope for each week of the year (the financial year of this church is from 1st Jan to 31st Dec). You put your donation into an envelope and place in the offertory basket during the service.

Standing Orders are also available as an alternative to using the weekly envelopes and if you are interested to change or start your giving by Standing Order, you would need to complete a Standing Order form in addition to the Gift Aid Declaration form.

Standing Order is a good idea in this climate even if you are not a taxpayer, as it allows the Church Treasurer to do a more accurate forecast of donations for the Tax Year.

You can also make donations using a Contactless machine in Church.
